I’ve been thinking for a long time now about how to word this post… It just seems to abrupt to go out and say what I am going to say, so I guess I’ll just say it:
I’m no longer going to do Reflection Media as a business.
For those of you that just read that and are now saying to yourself, “Oh snap… I already booked a session for this year!” Yes, I am still honoring all appointments previously made, I just won’t be adding any more to this year.
When I “started” Reflection Media, I wanted a way that I could connect with people and use what God has given me to do what I can do. I knew that it was going to be a season of life that I could do something I enjoy and get paid a little, too. However, it was kinda getting bigger than I thought it would, and I realized that I was pushing the more important things in my life off to the side. I need to focus more of my time on my family than my hobbies.
So all of that to say, I am so grateful for this time (short as it was), and I’m looking forward to seeing what God has in store for my family in the next season ahead. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice and support in the last few months. I appreciate all of you!
Our first wedding we’ve done (at least in our photography department), and it went great! If you want to check out the entire day, please go to our Facebook page.
Once again, congratulations to an awesome couple!
Welcome to our new blog!
For those of you who have never heard of us before, Reflection Media consists of me, Amanda, and my husband Nicholas. We’ve been doing photography and videography as a hobby for a while now, and we’re just getting started on this journey into the business world. I know most that are reading this are probably people that I know and some of you may be wondering how we came up with our name. To make a long story shorter, I was praying about it and just telling God that I wanted a name that shows what we wanted to do: reflect Jesus Christ in our words and actions, and also to reflect the people He has made with photos and video.
I’ve been able to photograph a variety of people and I love it! However, I know that photography is popular and I want to give a little shout out for something that maybe isn’t quite as popular in our area (yet).
A while back, I was inspired by watching some home videos. One in particular showed a birthday party for my grandma where there were a few people that I hadn’t seen in a long time or that had passed on. I was probably 5 or 6 at the time of the video, so I don’t remember much of the day, but being able to see those people again and watch their mannerisms was such a sobering experience. How many times do I take for granted the people in my life now and don’t choose to somehow bottle up those memories? That was, and is, the inspiration behind doing videography. People are important and so are milestones! Why not capture the life and vibrance of people (whether they are 1 or 101) and be able to watch them for years? That’s what we strive to do. We do videos for anything from birthday parties to weddings because no event is unimportant.
Ok, that’s my shout out. I hope you enjoy our Facebook page as well as our blog, and don’t forget to check back for more from us!
